Integrated assessment - How it works
This paper will discuss how integrated assessment uses the concept of transfer of learning to enable specific and generic learning outcomes to be assessed together in a meaningful way.
One of the challenges for workplace assessment is how to ensure that assessment integrates underpinning knowledge and skills with application. Its all very well for a candidate to know how to do something but can they apply it in a realistic work environment or conversley does a candidate who know how to do something know why they are doing it.
This paper looks at the concepts of capability and competence, methods traditionally used to assess them and how by understanding how transfer of learning works we can develop innovative methods to assess specific and generic learning outcomes as integrated assessments.
