Externally Moderated School-based Assessment and Certification: The Queensland Experience

  • Queensland has for over 35 years successfully implemented a unique system of externally moderated school-based assessment for certification at the end of secondary education. How does this work? What are its assumptions? How successful is it? What can others learn from it? This symposium will consider these questions. It will explain and illustrate key features of the system and invite discussion about its characteristics, effectiveness and transferability. There will be short videoed events, reflections and commentaries on these, and general discussion.
